[texworks] somewhat pixely pdf-preview in ubuntu 20.04

I recently installed ubuntu 20.04, and I have the impression that the
pdf-rendering in the pdf-preview in texworks is not as good as it used
to be in my texworks installation in ubuntu 16.04. Characters seem to
appear a bit more pixely and less "smooth" than before. I wonder if
there are any known pdf-rendering issues in ubuntu 20.04 (probably
related to anti-aliasing or font hinting), and in that case if there are
some things that can be done to improve the way the texworks pdf-preview
look (e.g. installing some update of the poppler package or similar).

I have tried to change the Antialiasing and Hinting settings in
gnome-tweaks but that doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any advice on this would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
