The solution to this problem is very easy. The System Preferences module "TeX Distribution" is out of date and has been for many years. Ignore it. You have the distribution. I don't understand why "TeX Live Utility" does not see the distribution. To debug this, please write me directly so we don't clutter the list. Richard Koch
