I am wondering to what extent the devlopment environment including
 the
MS libraries, etc, has to be preserved in order to be able to compile
new binaries from the source code.

Another question would be if a binary distribution for Y&Y TeX can be
packaged for download, similar to what people received on the CD when
they purchased Y&Y TeX but without the fonts. It seems that there are
people around who are interested in using Y&Y but haven't had a
 chance
 to purchase it.
