I imagine that you determine the adequate sizing inside the DVI from a frame you see in DVIWINO, am I correct? There is no preview stored inside the EPS files, is there? This frame indicates the bounding box (four digits describing the xy coordinates of the outer limits of an illustration). If the bounding box is off, i.e.: doesn't coincide with the actual outer limits of the EPS image, you would get what you are describing. One way to check this out is to open the EPS file in GhostView. If there is indeed a problem you can regenerate the EPS file from there with the correct bounding box. If this should fail you could manually edit the coordinates, which you'll find in the header. Look for:

%%BoundingBox: llx lly urx ury

ll => lower left
ur => upper right

It is very important to be specific. How do you make the determination that the DVI file and the PDF file are different? Unless you have a preview stored inside the EPS file, you won't see the image displayed. If you then get a box only, that box may not match the actual outer limits of the illustration. Then you end up with a PDF file that seems to not match, but in fact it does.

I hope I am clear.

Thanks,
Frank
