[XeTeX] xetex/tikz bbox

i'm combining xetex and tikz to create figures, and running into a  
problem wherein the bounding box is not being computed correctly.   
attached is a short example file.  processing this with xelatex - 
outper-driver="xdvipdfmx", and then gs (pdfcrop --verbose) to  
calculate the bbox, does not provide the correct bounding box.   in  
some cases it gets the left and upper bounds correct, but in others  
it doesn't seem to even calculate those correctly.   switching the  
same file to pdflatex and the standard CM fonts results in the  
correct bbox calculated.  any help?
