The latest pdfpages package should work with the latest xetex  
version, but I don't think it'll work with the current texlive  
packages, you'd have to update both pdfpages and xetex by hand. You  
probably don't want to do that if you can avoid it.

(Anyone "out there" done a Debian package for xetex-0.997? That'd be  
helpful...)
