[XeTeX] Xdv2pdf: usage of old TFM fonts?

The problem is that xdv2pdf doesn't support virtual fonts :(
This means the majority of modern (in TeX terms) font collections  
aren't accessible. The majority of the PSNFSS fonts will work with  
the exception of mathpazo and mathptmx, as far as I'm aware. The  
euler maths fonts *do* work with \usepackage{euler}, and the Lucida  
fonts as well (if you happen to own them).

However, the situation isn't hopeless. As far as I'm aware, the  
extended-for-XeTeX dvipdfmx can be compiled on Mac OS X -- the only  
downside this way is losing out on some of the Mac OS X-specific  
things that xdv2pdf is capable of.

Um, but someone other than me is going to have to go into more detail  
here...
