Fellow TeX-ers,

It is early summer, and a TeXer's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of
the TUG Annual Meeting. We have the latest on that, and the ConTeXt
meeting, as well as the news from TeX Live and TUGboat.

1) The Annual Meeting is getting close! The 2016 TUG Annual Meeting
will be July 25-27, 2016, in Toronto, Canada. The registration web
site is at http://www.tug.org/tug2016/.

Note that June 25 is the deadline for discounted hotel
reservations. Rooms are available at the Bond Place Hotel. The
conference page http://tug.org/tug2016/ has the link to make online
reservations.

The program has shaped up nicely, with presentations on new
developments in the TeX family, examples of uses of the software in
practice, and many topics related to the TeX world. Check the full
list at http://tug.org/tug2016/program.html.

In particular we will have three special guests. Alphabetically:
- Chuck Bigelow, known to many TeX folks as a designer of the Lucida and
 Wingdings font families.
- Robert Bringhurst, probably best known to TeXies for his reference
 The Elements of Typographic Style.
- Kevin Larson of Microsoft Advanced Reading Technologies, who
has been influential in improvements to rendering technologies.

This year's conference has scheduled a number of excursions, including
a typography excursion throughout the city (at no additional charge),
a baseball game between the San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays,
Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls, Guelph, and Georgian Bay. See
http://tug.org/tug2016/excursions.html.

2) Another meeting that is coming onto the horizon is the 10th
International ConTeXt Meeting. It is a celebration of thirty years of
Pragma ADE, twenty years of public ConTeXt availability, ten years of
organized ConTeXt Meetings, and, the birth of LuaTeX one point zero!
Registration is open -- see
http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2016/register.shtml.

The meeting will take place September 25-October 1, 2016, in
Kalenberg, The Netherlands. It will host ConTeXt and LuaTeX
developers and users and give you the opportunity to present your
results, experiences and ideas on future development. The
presentations will be accompanied by tutorials on different ConTeXt
and LuaTeX techniques. Conference web page:
http://meeting.contextgarden.net/2016/

4) TeX Live 2016 is released! It is making its way around CTAN now and
should be available for download from all current mirrors soon.

It is also available on DVD from TUG and other user groups. You can
acquire TeX Live in many ways. For typical use, the developers
recommend either: installing TeX Live over the Internet or getting TeX
Live on DVD (recommended if installation over the network is not your
best option). For full details see
http://www.tug.org/texlive/acquire.html.

Thank you to all contributors; more contributors, including testers,
are always welcome; see http://tug.org/texlive/contribute.html.

3) The latest TUGboat, volume 37 number 1, a regular issue, has been
mailed to current TUG members. The next issue is the TUG '16
proceedings issue, with a submission deadline of August 8. The next
regular issue has a submission deadline of September 29. As always,
articles, tutorials, announcements, and any other TeX-related items
are greatly appreciated.

Happy TeXing,
Jim Hefferon, for the TUG Board
