[Tugindia] Customising leftmark

When one uses \leftmark in a header or footer in the book class, one gets
the chapter number followed by the chapter title like: "chapter 3. This is
chapter 3" in the corresponding location. Now, I want to modify this so
that the chapter number does not appear, so that I get "This is chapter 3"
only instead. How can I do this?
