[Tugindia] Regarding updating texlive 2009.

I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and I have installed latex and
friends
using texlive2009 DVD.  I am facing problems while updating my latex
distribution.
I first thought that this is due to problems in tlmgr and updated it
separately by downloading
and running the script
ftp://dante.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/texlive/tlnet/update-tlmgr-latest.sh
This hasn't helped.  If I try to download the remote tex data base using the
gui version, it gives the error message

I tried to update from the the command line. Still I can't.  There seems to
be
some connection problem.  The machine is behind a proxy, but this isn't a
problem since
I am able to download ubuntu(debian) packages using aptitude.  The error
message I get when I try to update from the commandline
is as follows:

You may want to try specifying an explicit or different CTAN mirror;
see the information and examples for the -repository option at
http://tug.org/texlive/doc/install-tl.html
(or in the output of install-tl --help).

Cannot load TeX Live database from
ftp://dante.ctan.org/tex-archive/systems/texlive/tlnet at /usr/bin/tlmgr
line 4212.

I tried the default mirror also with the same result.
Can anybody help?
