[Tugindia] problem with pdf printed on a4 sheet

i created a report using latex (a general one...... as im a newbie here). 
when i took the printout of the pdf output of the same file, i found that 
only 3/4th of the page was full and it was much like a needle in the 
haystack :)......... how can i make it print more lines perpage........not 
by increasing the lines in the present area of print...but rather increase 
the print area per page and hence increase the number of lines per 
page.......

please..........when replying give details, as im a newbie i may not be able 
to understand many of the tech terms concerned and also new 
packages...........
