BTW, it is in  beta stage and version number is > 1. Version 1.3 gives
impression of stable version.

For document  without sections, can  not one use  `enumerate'? And for
document with  sections, counter  of `enumerate'  may be  redefined to
include section and subsection number.

Yes, I know, giving suggetion is much easier than doing ;-)
