Works OK here (10.8.5 build 12F37), but that's very limited testing, ie performing daily update with TLU.

I don't have (at least willingly) any odd launchd or python setup, so no testing in this respect.

Is /etc/launchd.config the only place where launchd customizations could be stored, or are there other places that should be inspected inside ~ or {~,}/Launch{Agents,Daemons}, some invisible config files somewhere?

Similarly, regarding Python, I have /Library/Python/2.{3,5,6,7}, but no idea which one is actually used or what put them there. Inside 2.5 there are

	/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/fontforge-1.0-py2.5.egg-info
	/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/fontforge.so
	/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/psMat.so

which are part of the FontForge install. Inside 2.3 there is /Library/Python/2.3/site-packages/Extras.pth containing the single line

	/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.3/Extras/lib/python

and the rest is all empty folders apart from READMEs.

Now, /System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions contains

	drwxr-xr-x   6 root  wheel  204 21 jui  2012 2.3
	drwxr-xr-x  11 root  wheel  374 19 sep 00:21 2.5
	drwxr-xr-x  11 root  wheel  374 19 sep 00:21 2.6
	drwxr-xr-x  11 root  wheel  374 19 sep 00:21 2.7
	lrwxr-xr-x   1 root  wheel    3 10 aoû  2012 Current -> 2.7

so I imagine the fact Current is a symlink to 2.7 means 2.7 is the current version, the one actually used by OS X.

Finally, regarding the QuickLook-like panel in Get info, I'm not sure what you're referring to. Is this the QuickLook panel that appears when you press Space or Cmd-Y with the Info panel for a package upfront and the document icon selected? Like this
