In addition to Norbert's and Martin's reply, my only reaction is that it seems rather strange for "pdftex" to mean a poppler-linked program on some systems and an xpdf-linked program on others (and in the original). I don't recall ever seeing a bug report or user complaint, though, so I dunno ... karl
