You're being unfair ;-) NetBSD (I've been using it since the very
first version, after 386BSD and before FreeBSD was even born) is
a good system but it sure requires some time to get acquainted.

It shouldn't be as it remained much closer than Linux to what
UNIX was at that time (no systemd crap...).
Don't give up just yet. Or let a little time pass.
