In TeX Live 2014, freetype was linked to xdvipdfmx, and native type1
fonts were supported. In TeX Live 2015, the freetype was discarded in
xdvipdfmx. Unfortunately it was known after the release of TL 2015
that native type1 fonts could not be used.
If we use the latest sources in the TeX Live repository, it seems that
xdvipdfmx supports native type1 fonts, thanks to Jiang Jiang.
Sorry I misunderstood you. You have to use the developement sources.
