You have the Master of the whole TeX Live distribution. With the 
stuff you get out of the source.tar.gz you *cannot* run anything!!!

You need the stuff in svn Master/, that is
	texmf
	texmf-dist
	texmf-var
	texmf-config
(at least, optionally:)
	

There the layout must be
	ROOT/texmf
	ROOT/texmf-dist
	ROOT/texmf-var
	ROOT/bin/i686-pc-linux-gnu/
then it will work.

If you want the binaries in /usr/bin, you have to make sure that
- it is compiled without the additional "arch$ specification built in
- that in /usr/share/texmf/web2c/ there is a file texmf.cnf
because the first temxf.cnf is searched for with hard coded path
(several).

Did you *ever* install a TeX Live by yourself and worked a bit with it
before trying to package it?

I recommend *FIRST* get accustomed to the TeX Live system and *THEN*
start trying to package things ...

And knowing a bit how TeX works, esp kpathsea, would help, too???
