Space is infinite, Arthur, but it too is empty.  A file, no matter how 
large, can contain (a) something useful [the normal case]; (b) something 
useful but slightly corrupt [an occasional fact of life]; (c) random 
noise [e.g., after a full data-cleansing erase]; or (d) nothing but 
zeros (after a simple erase).  Yours appears to be the last.
