[texworks] Texworks is not producing the pdf

Sources of XeTeX show that the above means that
pclose() failed. I can't understand why such an error occurs.

Please try on terminal without --no-pdf option:
xelatex massaro_I_3p3.tex

Usually this should create massaro_I_3p3.pdf successfully.
Do you have the same error message as with TeXworks?
