Bruno also mentioned ways to change the behavior of Finder using
com.apple.FinderInfo and similar methods. I recommend
agains this approach. Users apply these methods
 and then forget what they did. Later
when they run into trouble, it is impossible for us to help because
the user forgot, and and we were never told, about the change.

There is a similar problem with hidden preferences in TeXShop. 
A user who applies such a preference forgets what they did.
And I forget that such a preference exists. When trouble occurs,
nobody has a clue. At one point I went through the TeXShop source
and listed all hidden preferences. This list can be found in the TeXShop
manual. But who wants to go through this list? I never read it.
