[texhax] newtx font installation

I guess that's right (and obvious)

 I have a relatively old installation, but it all works so I'm a bit loathe to perform a massive update of everything. Also, the updater reports that somehings haven't been tested and I should wait a few days !

I've done this. It doesn't contain any reference to newtx.map although it does contain the references to .../type1/public/newtx etc I extracted for my original posting. I guess there's something different between knowing about a font and putting it in a .map file? And in desperation I did a:

updmap --admin --force -- verbose > udmapforce.log   [attached]

which appears to have regenerated all the various caches and such, but which still fails to construct a newtx.map.


@Phil - XeLatex doesn't help, but thanks.

@Bob - I checked and I have current versions of the 4 packages you list. I installed the tex-gyre-maths for good measure, but still no joy.
