This means that updmap hasn't correctly updated the map files.

I just tested on my system and it worked fine. So I don't think that
there is a problem with the miktex packages. 

Check if there are updates (update manager user and admin version).

Run on a command line (as user) again 
 updmap 

If it doesn't help run

 updmap --verbose > updmap.log

Then check in the log-file if it contains a line like

Parsing XXXX\fonts\map\dvips\newtx\newtx.map... and report back.
