... moreover, a quick look at the manual of Peter Wilson's memoir class
makes me guess that memoir incorportates Melchior Franz' crop package
*and extends it*. memoir seems to be superiour to the Standard LaTeX
classes in a number of respects (at least when you write an English
document that won't be just a contribution to another editor's volume).
In particular, memoir saves you from asking some of those frequent
questions of type "Which package does ...?"
