[texhax] Embedded math a la Mac OSX

Some time ago, someone showed off a feature of Mac OS X Keynote, where
they typeset a single equation in Τεχ — I think it was LaTeX Equation
Editor — then pasted the PDF into a Keynote presentation.  Does some
such capability exist for non-Apple machines?  Specifically, is there
some program that will typeset a single equation into some embeddable
form, perhaps eps?
