[texdvd] single-layer vs. otherwise

Hello 2024 TeX dvd folks - the TeX Live pretest is coming along, and
the form for people to request dvd's should be ready pretty soon.

Unfortunately, the TL image on its own, even when I take out all
platforms except the big three (GNU/Linux, Windows, macOS), is still
well over 4.7G and hence will not fit on the basic single-layer DVD. Nor
will MacTeX, in its .pkg form.

Even if I started removing large packages to get below 4.7G (not a fun
prospect), it's unlikely I could do that for more than one or two
releases before it would just become untenable.

Bottom line: I hope you-all will be able to write in one of the
"double-size" DVD formats, whether dual layer or whatever. Because I
don't see a viable alternative.

I'm less worried about reading, since I think nearly all DVD readers
sold for the last decade or two can handle those formats. If not, well,
a new DVD reader doesn't cost much.

Thoughts? --thanks, karl.
