Shouldn't it be better removed? Yes, thanks. Done now. It had a purpose in the past when its .ini files were maintained in TeX Live (Sebastian created them originally, I believe). When Joseph unified all those into the tex-ini-files package, I didn't think about xmltexconfig becoming empty. --best, karl.
