	Thank you very much for your
	informative and prompt answer.

	Indeed, my latex-fractal now compiles without
	problems in luatex - even with deeper recursion.

	(Is pdftex to be deprecated and replaced by luatex?
	 xetex seems to suffer also from capacity limits.)
