Segmentation Fault while loading format file

Hello,
its no problem to wait a few days. I prefer a stable solution over a quick
but incomplete fix (in other situations that may be necessary).

And keeping the network installation for multiple platforms would be really
valuable to us. Todays updates included new x86_64-linux binaries (Thanks for that).

I've done some tests with the different platform binaries (see below) and currently
the format file only works on the platform where it has been created.
