It's true that the literal PS examples do not work in PDF, so the
examples come out as either blank or black, but that seems unavoidable
to me.  PDF does not support arbitrary PS.

Is that the "garbage" you meant?  If so, I think we'll have to live with
it.  If not, let me know.
