Could you not construct the link with the user spec of \pdfstartlink and 
a named destination? I.e.:

\pdfdest name{destination} xyz
...
\pdfstartlink user{/Subtype/Link
  /A <<
   /S/GoTo
   /D (destination)
   /Next <<
     /S/Sound ...
   >>
  >>
}link\pdfendlink
