Hello Sebastian, 
I'm using all the *tex tools from my RedHat 7.2 linux distribution. To
be more specific, I believe the *tex distribution is from/a "Web2c"
distribution. I'm not sure what you mean by removing the lines from the
pdftex.map file but I will look into it... is there anymore detail I can
provide in my problem description that may pin point the problem and
possibly solve the warnings the "proper way" ?
