[pdftex] hyperref & \addtocontents

Hi,

You have probably seen this error before. Is there away around it?
The hyperref package has a problem with the following lines in my thesis.cls 
file.

% Adds the appropriate label to the ToC/LoF/LoT
\addtocontents{lof}{\protect\contentsline {part}%
	{\protect\figurenameToC}{\protect\relax}%
}
\addtocontents{lot}{\protect\contentsline {part}%
	{\protect\tablenameToC}{\protect\relax}%
}
\addtocontents{toc}{\protect\contentsline {part}%
	{\protect\chapternameToC}{\protect\relax}%
}

The errors that I get are:
1) TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [input stack size=1500].
                      \select at language
                              {english}

2) Argument of \select at language has an extra }.
                              \select at language
                                      {english}

I'm using Package: hyperref 2000/01/22 v6.69c.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
