[OS X TeX] A real mistery

Interesting!

Opening the example.pdf file in Preview, that A is actually selectable, and I can drag it around.
That confirms it is some form of annotation.

One can of course print this pdf to pdf, and that one will then include the A, so then it will appear in tex.
