[OS X TeX] strange biblatex error - should I run mktexlsr?

Mystery solved:
In ~/Library/texmf/web2c I still had an old .fmt for the book-length document that I had fashioned out of its preamble.
As soon as I trashed that .fmt, the document compiled normally.
My memory (from last working on the document a couple of months ago) was jogged after I worked around the langbasque issue by adding
\NewBibliographyString{langbasque}
\NewBibliographyString{frombasque}
to the preamble. But when I next latex’ed the document, I got a really weird error about a mismatch of character width, and that got the little gray matter working harder.
Thank you for your indulgence!
