Howdy,

It sounds like you installed Mountain Lion after installing MacTeX on an earlier version of the OS. Mountain Lion removes X11 while gs is still ``pointing'' to a version that requires X11.

Please try to install FixMacTeX2012.pkg and see if that fixes things.

If that doesn't fix things try to install XQuartz which you can get at <http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/>. Open XQuartz and answer any questions in the affirmative and see if that fixes things.
