This won't help – at least in Mac OS X before Leopard (10.5). If the  
contents of ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist is faulty, then the whole  
system wouldn't be able to work correctly. It's this file that  
initiates the environment of *all* processes in Mac OS X. Removing or  
changing it while still logged on does not necessarily change  
anything – because processes have parents from which they inherit  
their environment. And when the parent does not change, then the  
child can't change. So a change to ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist has to  
be followed by logging off and in again in order to see the change  
has happened.

There's something the technicians need to learn from the artists. If  
it isn't aesthetically pleasing, it's probably wrong.
