[OS X TeX] latexit issues

I am going to assume that Apple is setting TMPDIR during the  
loginwindow process somewhere.

Derek, if you are still reading this, you might want to try
     groups
in Terminal.

If you see something like
     derek _lpadmin _appserveradm _appserverusr admin
where "derek" is the first item in the list, then you should try the  
following:
     ls $TMPDIR/../..

If AND ONLY If you see some junk like
     Vz-tDXXNFsCz8I6gmGs1r++++TI
then
     chown -R derek:derek $TMPDIR
in Terminal.
