Thomas,
you must have introduced some error! As first guess. I upgraded one
weekend ago to the *EXPERIMENTAL* tex i-Package and have these,
according to the contents of the i-Package:
pete 386 /\ l /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdf*tex
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:27
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdfamstex -> pdfetex
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:21
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdfcslatex -> pdfetex
-rwxr-xr-x 1 pete staff 1191620 7 Sep 23:17
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdfetex
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:27
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdfjadetex -> pdfetex
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:27
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdflatex -> pdfetex
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:21
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdfplatex -> pdfetex
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:27
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdftex -> pdfetex
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root admin 7 10 Sep 20:27
/usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdfxmltex -> pdfetex
As you see *I* am the owner of pdfetex, although I can swear a few
oaths that it was admin who installed the software (and it's usually me
who uses it). And then there are the pdfcslatex and pdfplatex
sym-links, which I never ordered and which have inappropriate
permissions set (and different dates too)! That pdfetex has a date
earlier than that of my installation is OK, because that's the date
when it was made by Gerben (and then packed into the new i-Package).
Could be there are bugs in i-Installer 2.70 or the tex i-Packages.
Which tex i-Package and which i-Installer where you using when exactly?
