Howdy,

I must admit I directly edited the updmap.cfg file in texmf.local/web2c/
being careful to reset owner/group, etc., and then ran "sudo updmap" in
Terminal. I keep forgetting about those options changing commands in updmap.

Take a look at that file and see that it has actually changed the option.
