[OS X TeX] Fink

All,
A silly question, no doubt, but messing with Gerben's TeX installation 
is not something I will tolerate.  So, I want Octave, Gnu-Plot, et al., 
but I don't want anything about my TeX installation messed with.  How 
does one use Fink, and not screw-up my all-important Gerben-related TeX 
stuff?  There seem to be *nix-related path screw-ups that I really 
don't want to deal with.  My preference is, if my TeX stuff will get 
hosed (a Candadianism, but transparent, I suspect), I will just not 
bother, but I would like things fink-wise to be otherwise.
