I cannot comment on the other options, but the luatex git I am mirroring
is using the same code I use for the TeX Live svn-git mirror, all since
5+ years.

I guess your first decision should be whether you want to keep the svn
tag in there or not, the last lines in

It records svn revision, origin, and uuid. If this is preferred to be
NOT in the git repo, then one can use any of the other solutions 
(or run git-svn with appropriate options again).
