Here are two pre-release example PDF's made by Alex with LaTeX and
pstricks and Keli font in Malayalam:

 http://www.tug.org.in/download/sanjayan.pdf

The map files and packages written by Alex endure the torture test as
evidenced in mm-pstricks.pdf. I hope that the sources of above PDF's,
all relevant packages and documentation could be released by this
weekend.

Alex is also writing an exhaustive technical documentation on how to
tweak the existing maps if you happened to get a font with different
glyph layout or how to write an entirely new scheme from scratch.

He has written maps for some of the CDAC fonts too which will also be
distributed sans the fonts due to non-free licence. This will help
users to make use of the proprietary fonts available in the market.
Seems like Malayalam typesetting in TeX has matured enough to enter
into the professional text processing world, especially seeing the
printed results of 'sanjayan.pdf'.

I guess, similar scheme could be extended to all other Indic scripts
which means typesetting Indic scripts with TeX should never be a
problem at all.

I'm curious to hear from Prof Yogananda about his brave venture on
Kannada fonts with MetaFont.

Comments welcome.
