  Hm, well, as far as number of files and complexity are concerned,
  this does not seem at all trivial;  but the detailed instructions
  in pdftexcmds.dtx should indeed compensate the loss.

 The update has been installed on our central server and will
 be announced about 24 hours later, when the mirrors have had
 enough time to pick up the new files.
