ghostview install problem with previous gv installed..

I previously reported that although I didn't request it, the fptex
install tried to install ghostview anyway. I deselected all items, 
but then the gs install failed out back to the main fptex 
installation.

This then has damaged my previous installation of ghostview. When I 
try to run it it starts to do the install again but hangs. I have to 
kill that installation. I am unable to use Add/Remove to get rid of 
the damaged installation because the uninstall program also hangs at 
the point of 
  - Removing Program/Startmenu items
I will probably need to had edit the registry and the C: drive to 
clean this up.
