endfloat package in fpTeX

Hello everybody,

I am preparing a paper for submission and I am using the package endfloat
for this purpose. I am trying to remove the page numbers from the list of
figures, but I just can't do it. The package author writes a possible way
to do it and specifies that the trick might not work in all the LaTeX2e
implementations. Infact, it does not work with the fptex as installed from
TeXLive4. 

Has anyone managed to do what I am trying to do?
