Hi Sanchit!

1. There were a couple problems with your file:

    A. One of your graphic files was called Japan's_Atlanta's.jpg.
Many systems balk at file names with apostrophes in them; I've
renamed it and the reference in the tex file Japan_s_Atlanta_s.jpg

    B. You really should NOT use \\ to mark the end of the paragraph!
Please your empty lines for this. However, if you by any reason
use \\, and the next line starts with [ (opening square bracket),
you are going to have errors since TeX expects an optional
    argument to the \\ command.

    C. I do not know what does \bicaption do; I've changed it to
    \caption.

    D. Seems you have many URLs with hyphens. The line (before
hyperref!) \usepackage[hyphens]{url} helps to split them.

2. After I've run pdflatex on your file, I've got a PDF that probably
does not have the problems with ligatures. Please check
    termpaper-corrected.tex & termpaper-corrected.pdf
