We've been having trouble getting certain fonts to get used. If we put
them under /usr/share/fonts/, they seem to get noticed, but for various
reasons we'd prefer to put them in a separate directory, and to have
them noticed by Xetex *without* having to use the ExternalLocation
argument to \fontspec.

Is it the case that if fc-list lists a font, Xetex can use it without
the ExternalLocation arg?
