I'm always happy to hear this :).

Unfortunately, I don't have a Mac to test this with. On Linux,
everything seems to work fine with the following minimum example:

\documentclass{article}

\usepackage{pdfcomment}

\begin{document}

\pdfcomment{Test}

\end{document}

*) Does this minimal example cause the hang for you?
*) In your tests, does the hang occur as soon as any part of the page
becomes visible (even if the annotation itself is not yet on screen)?
*) In your tests, which page layout (continuous or single page, zoom to
width/zoom to page/... did you use)?

Best,
Stefan
