Donald E. Knuth, is the creator of TeX and Professor Emeritus at the
Department of Computer Science, Stanford University. He is
the Grand Wizard of the TeX Users Groups.
Dick Koch is professor of mathematics at the University of Oregon in Eugene.
He just retired, still talks to students, but no longer attends committee meetings.
He migrated to the Mac from the NeXT, and began work on TeXShop when he realized that the NeXT TeX previewer wouldn't compile on Mac OS X because OS X doesn't have display postscript.
