Lance Carnes has been involved with TeX since 1980, has been an editor of TUGBoat, and has served on the TUG board. In 1985 he founded Personal TeX, Inc. and introduced PCTeX, a TeX system that ran on IBM-PC's. Currently, PCTeX runs on MS Windows, and Personal TeX offers products and services for LaTeX and TeX users.
Marie-Louise Chaix is project leader at (EDP-Sciences), a French publishing company. She is in charge of publishing scientific journals and books, both on paper and on the Web. She has been a member of the GUTenberg board for four years.
He uses LaTeX for almost every document he creates and is currently writing two textbooks in LaTeX for which he has done all the layout (with Gary L. Gray).
His research interests include the mechanics of nanostructures, the dynamic crack propagation in thermoelastic materials, and engineering education.
